Level 4 Limit Breaks (how to get them)
WARNING: This page contains SPOILERS for Final Fantasy VII.
These are all fairly simple. At the bottom of this page, I have put a list of common questions concerning the Level Four Limit Breaks.
Cloud: Omnislash. Get this in Battle Square. 51200 points from when you get the Tiny Bronco, 32000 after you get the Highwind.
Barret: Catastrophe. Get this from a lady in Corel after the train event. She's in the house to the left of the inn.
Tifa: Final Heaven. Get this by playing X, square, triangle, triangle+R1, square+R1, X, square, triangle, X+R1, O, X, square, X on Tifa’s piano (after Cloud rejoins the group late in the game).
Aeris: Great Gospel. Get it from the sleeping man North of Fort Condor. Talk to him, fight a battle, talk to him, fight a battle, and so on. When the number of battles you have fought ends in the same two numbers (they have to be odd, like 11,33,55,77,99), he will give you some Mythril (or a Bolt Ring if they are even). Take this to the small house between Gongaga and the Gold Saucer. The man there will offer you something if you give him the Mythril. You’ll want to choose the ‘small’ chest, which is all the way in the bottom left corner of the second floor of the house (on the wall).
Red XIII: Cosmo Memory. You’ll get this after you beat Lost Number in the safe in the Shinra Mansion. Use this combination: right 36, left 10, right 59, right 97. Hit confirm on each number. Also, you can’t go past any numbers. So, you start at zero. If you go to 37, you immediately fail, and you’ll have to try again.
Yuffie: All Creation. Win the Pagoda quest to get this (in Wutai, walk into the tall building on the screen with the gong. Yuffie has to be in your group).
Cid: Highwind. This is found in the cargo room of the Gelnika.
Vincent: Chaos. Visit the waterfall/cave directly to the East of Nibelheim (use the sub or a colored chocobo). Talk to Lucrecia once, then go fight ten battles, then check the cave again.
Cait Sith: None. Slots is all the higher he goes.
I have the item. Why won't my characters learn the Limit Break?
A character must know all six (or three, in the case of Vincent) of their other limit breaks before they can learn their final one. 1-2, 2-2, and 3-2 limits are gained by using the 1-1, 2-1, and 3-1 limits a certain number of times. 2-1 and 3-1 limits are gained by that character killing a certain number of enemies.
Can I still get Catastrophe if I fail the train mission?
Yes. Just talk to the lady.
Do I have to play Tifa's piano in the Kalm Flashback to get Final Heaven?
No. In fact, you don't even need to touch the piano until after you get Cloud back in your party. There are two other items you can get from the piano though. If you play it during the first "real" visit to Nibelheim, you will find One Gil (w00t!). If you play it when Tifa is leading your party, you will find an Elemental Materia.
Is it possible to get Great Gospel before Aeris dies?
Yes. Once you get the Bronco, the weapon man will appear in his house. Find the Buggy and take it all the way to Costa del Sol. Drive the Buggy into the town, and then get on the transport ship. When you exit Junon, you will find that you are still in the Buggy. Drive it over the river to the sleeping man's house. Once you have the Mythril, drive the Buggy back into Junon, get in the transport ship, and exit Costa del Sol. Head back the weapon man and trade the Mythril for Great Gospel.
Can Chaos be gotten on disc 2/3?
It can be gotten on either. All that needs to be done is to fight ten battles between the two visits. You can do both visits on disc two, do one on disc two and one on disc three, or do them both on disc three.
