Finally caved in and got Borderlands.

First new game I've picked up since Resident Evil 5 I think.

I won't know that until I have a chance to actually play it.

Well after playing it for a few hours, I have to say it's pretty much exactly what people have been saying - Fallout 3 only with a heavy FPS feel to it. The FPS style isn't as fluid as a dedicated FPS game but it's far moreseo than the gun combat was in Fallout 3. Loving it so far.

After many more hours of it, I can also say that it's not really as busy as Fallout 3 was as far as NPCs all over the place and so forth, so it doesn't feel like there's as much to do.

It's a lot more linear and straight forward than Fallout. But you have to play through a second time as the difficulty is upped.

Yeah it's definitely a lot more linear.

It looks like a game that could be really fun, but I wouldn't pay 50 or 60 bucks for it.

I'm curious how the multiplayer will be, but if it's as much fun as Resident Evil 5 co-op was, I'll be happy.

Multi is great. For every player playing the difficulty is multiplied. It's still not that hard to me. But i'm only playing with one other person. Three or four might be harder.

Is it just me or is using a vehicle just the cheapest shit ever? Is it even possible to destroy one, even by accident? It always seems fine no matter how many hits it takes or how careless I am with what I run into, and since it repairs itself automatically...

Would you recommend buying it? Or do you think its better to just do a rental?
From: Blitz | Posted: December 3, 2009, 10:39:20 | Message Detail | Quote | #015
I'd rec a buy. The four different characters each have different abilities that are worth trying and the enemies are always different and harder on repeated play throughs.

Deuce, yes the vehicle can be destroyed and yes it does take a lot of damage. Wait until you get out of the Arid Badlands(if you haven't yet) and you fight people driving vehicles shooting rockets at you. When yo uget thre or four at one time it gets kinda complicated.

The rocket buggies weren't much of a challenge, all you have to do is slam into them and all their gunners die. >_>

Meanwhile, I'm loving the elephant gun.

Yeah, they're amusing but not really as fun as the explosive weapons. I have an explosive revolver with a scope which is an endless source of amusement for me.

Both of my scoped magnums have better zoom than any sniper rifle I've found so far.

I found a purple(rare) sniper rifle that had a 4X zoom and does 401 damage and like +150% damage so it ends up doing around 900 and on a critical around 1500-4000 depending on enemies level.

Zombie Island of Doctor Ned is okay, but it's painfully easy with this ridiculous Grievous Crux explosive shotgun that I found.

Co-op, and several arenas where you can fight each other. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is the next DLC that's supposedly being released in January, and it's supposed to greatly expand the multiplayer options.

Just burned a few hours on Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. Fun, but the time investment is huge (rounds will take several hours straight, and if you get killed you have to start all over). Kind of impractical for people that don't have entire days to burn on it.
